We’ve talked in the past about securing your WordPress login through Stealth Login Page.
Today I want to talk about a different plugin for securing your WP admin login, one that can be used as a standalone, or in conjunction with Stealth Login Page.
This plugin is Rename WP-login.php
This is a super simple plugin that lets you customize your login url to that of your choosing, and renders the default login method useless(through wp-login.php). By using this, it would block all bots and attacks from even getting to your WP admin login page.
If, in the case that you forget your login url, you can simply disable the plugin by renaming the plugin folder in your cPanel.
You can download the plugin from the WordPress repository, or from your plugins section in your WP admin.
Note – This plugin probably wouldn’t be of use if you have other users registering and logging in to your site.
